KAMATOGA (Kasese Mountain Tour Guides Association)

Guardian of Local Roots and Community Mobilisation

KASESE MOUNTAIN TOUR GUIDES ASSOCIATION (KAMATOGA) is an association of mountain guides based in Kasese, with intimate, ancestral knowledge of the Rwenzori Mountains and the communities living there. A key player in the field, the association serves as a bridge between conservation imperatives and the realities of the populations living at the foot of the "Mountains of the Moon" .

Champions of the mountains
KAMATOGA did not wait for outside intervention to act; they recognized early on the vital importance of replanting to save their ecosystem. Today, they lead the way, turning their ancestral wisdom into a powerful force for reforestation and community resilience.
